Hosted by Scotty and Stacey Morrison, TVNZ 1’s National Treasures explores Aotearoa’s recent history; the wonderful, the hidden and the controversial by encouraging members of the public to submit their own historical objects alongside their personal story. Items from the series are then featured in an installation at New Zealand’s National Museum – Te Papa.
Wow, wow, wow! Loved it. I learnt so much and was nearly in tears at times. Great to see Katie Cooper too - a southern girl. Her mother inspired me to study history and anthropology. Going to show my history class at school.
This is where the show really comes into its own - when the objects are simply conversation starters, to let the people themselves shine.
